History of Adrenal Cortex Extract:
In 1855 Thomas Addison described the syndrome of Adrenal Insufficiency, known today as Addison’s disease. Adrenal Cortex Extract was introduced into the medical community in the 1920’s. From 1930 to 1975 (when synthetic cortisone replaced adrenal cortex extract) the therapeutic effects for a wide range of maladies we documented with no negative side effects. Adrenal cortex has been shown to be effective for hypoglycemia, inflammation, and drug and alcohol withdrawal, and of course Addison’s disease.
Adrenal cortex extract has also been shown to correct abnormalities in carbohydrate metabolism. Additionally it maintains normal capillary permeability, helps resistance to infections and stress of all types, increases blood lymphocytes, and decreases serum gamma globulin content. Adrenal cortex extract has been indicated for stress, renal insufficiencies, inflammation, trauma, and serious toxic infections. It has shown to be beneficial in the management of shock from severe thermal burns or surgical shock and has been recommended for a variety of disorders for which no other therapy has shown greater results with no side effects. When hormone levels are low, the adrenals often suffer as well.
Adrenal cortex extract is now available in sublingual drops for optimal absorption, use in conjunction with B12 injections or B12 with MIC added for increased weight loss, energy and carbohydrate metabolism.
